Le Mans, France

Le Mans France

Le Mans is a city in France, best known for its annual 24-hour automobile race. The city’s rich history, spanning many centuries and its past role as the capital of the province of Maine, is too often overshadowed by the world-famous 24-hour race held on the edge of town. There are, however, beautiful reminders of the past and a wonderfully restored old quarter, which has been used as a backdrop for several movies. At its heart stands Saint-Julien Cathedral, a marvel that should not be missed. Le Mans is very easy to reach from Paris, offers a great deal to visitors, and deserves more than just a brief visit to the circuit when the engines are roaring. The “Cité Plantagenêt” may be one of the best-kept secrets in France.
