Rhodes is the main city and a former municipality on the island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese, Greece. Since the local government reform in 2011, it has become part of the Rhodes municipality, where it serves as the seat and a municipal unit. It is home to roughly 50,000 residents (nearly 90,000 in its metropolitan area). Rhodes has been renowned since ancient times as the location of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
